13th July. Crossing the River Liffey in Dublin.

We all set off from the secure mooring to be at the other end of Ringsend Basin for 11am. We have to lock out and cross the Liffey today, as the tide would be wrong tomorrow.

There are five boats in the first lockful at the sea lock, which lowers us from Ringsend Basin into the River Liffey. There will be seven boats altogether crossing today.

Out on to the Liffey with John and Chris ahead of us on Aisling. John is our leader, so we all do what he says!

The Puzzler is on the left of the convoy here, with Ashdown Girl, Feileachan and Misty Morning, all making good headway.

 
The Harp Bridge is ahead of us as we turn into the lock, on the other side of the Liffey. Feileachan and Aisling can be seen, carrying on under the bridge to see more of Dublin from the river.

We came up Spencer lock with O'Murchaoha, Misty Morning and Cheerful Lady, the three cruisers in our group.

Coming out of the lock we could see roof gardens high above us, on top of the apartment block on the opposite bank.

We all moored in Spencer Harbour, above the lock. As this is not a secure mooring, we then spent the rest of the day protecting our boats from the groups of young lads, who felt the need to climb on every boat, and proceeded to do so. They really wanted to see inside too, but we managed to avoid that pleasure! No harm was done and we parted with them amicably.
